David Mitchell - “New Soil Testing Requirements and Implications” Earlier this year, the Ministry of Environment enacted the Stage 14 Amendments to the Contaminated Sites Regulation which require a minimum level of soil testing on properties with historic activities of concern, in addition to a 1 week public notification. This new regulation has significant cost and timing implications for all development projects. We will discuss the new rules and the best way to navigate them.
Ken Lambertson - "Environmental Regulatory Changes habitat protection and water use affecting Urban Development”. Recent and not so recent regulatory changes to protection of stream and fish habitat, wildlife and biodiversity, and water uses continue to affect urban development. An overview of these regulatory changes will be presented together with challenges and trends. For urban development, some issues seem intractable, while positive outlooks are emerging.
